About the The Spokane Marathon
The Spokane Marathon has been on the Inland Northwest calendar for decades and stays closer to river and forest than to downtown blocks. A marathon team relay, half marathon, 10K, and kids run share the weekend, and the certified course keeps the race useful for fall qualifying attempts.
Course
The course follows the Spokane River and picks up the paved Centennial Trail, running through pine forest sections that feel more like a trail town than a city race. It is not dead flat, and the climbs away from the river reward even effort over fast early miles.

Mid-October in Spokane often starts near 40 or colder and warms into the 50s. Crisp, dry mornings are the norm, but rain and gusty wind pass through some years, so throwaway layers at the start are a safe plan.
