About the SPAR Budapest Marathon

SPAR Budapest Marathon is Hungary's largest running festival and a destination race built around the Danube. Marathoners share the weekend with many shorter formats, creating a busy event atmosphere that reaches well beyond the 42.2K field.

Course

The marathon follows both sides of the Danube and uses several bridge crossings to connect Buda and Pest. It is broadly runnable, but repeated turns, ramps, and exposed river sections keep it from feeling like a perfectly flat time trial.

Race-day weather

Early October is usually cool to mild, with useful racing temperatures. River wind, rain, or unexpected sun can become the main late-race variable.
