About the Skidaway Island Half Marathon
The draw here is access. The route runs inside The Landings on Skidaway Island, which is closed to the public the rest of the year, and the half regularly finishes around 450 to 550 runners. Awards are handed out continuously in one year age groups rather than at a single ceremony.
Course
Flat island roads through The Landings, with marsh and river views, live oak canopy and glimpses of the community's golf courses. Mostly open to residents' traffic rather than fully closed, so runners should stay alert at intersections even though the streets are quiet.
Race-day weather
Late February near Savannah is usually cool and humid, in the 40s at the 7:30 start and climbing through the 50s. Coastal fog off the marsh is common early and burns off quickly.
