About the Roof of the World Marathon
This Tibet package is as much an altitude expedition as a race. Participants acclimatize through a guided Lhasa itinerary before traveling to the marathon venue near Namtso, separate from the earlier Lonely Yak event.
Course
The full is raced on the high Tibetan Plateau near Namtso. Thin air changes realistic pacing and recovery, so the organizer's acclimatization schedule, medical guidance and transport plan are central race logistics.
Race-day weather
May at extreme altitude can bring cold, strong sun, wind and rapid shifts even when Lhasa feels comfortable. Runners need sun protection, warm layers and a conservative plan for dry air and reduced oxygen.
