About the Orca Half Marathon
Orca Running splits its signature half across Saturday and Sunday editions of the same West Seattle course, which keeps each race morning manageable and gives runners a rare choice of day. A challenge option covers both days, and an 8-miler shares the Sunday start for runners not ready for the full distance.
Course
The point-to-point route follows the West Seattle shoreline from Lincoln Park to Don Armeni Boat Launch, using parking lanes, sidewalks, and the Alki Trail. It is mostly flat with one dirt and gravel stretch, and the views of Puget Sound, Blake Island, and downtown last most of the race. Pacers cover finish times from 1:45 to 2:15.
Race-day weather
Mid-September in Seattle usually starts cool and gray, often in the 50s. Marine clouds can burn off by late morning, and light rain is always possible along the Sound.
