About the Binational Half Marathon
The flagship distance of the Binational Race links San Diego and Tijuana on foot. The point-to-point route starts in San Ysidro, crosses into Mexico at San Ysidro-El Chaparral, and finishes at Playas de Tijuana. Border documentation and return transportation are part of the race logistics, not optional travel details.
Course
The opening miles run through the Tijuana River Valley before the border crossing near 10K. After entering Mexico, the route climbs more than 300 feet over the 1.1-mile Enchilada Hill, then drops toward a Pacific-side finish in Playas de Tijuana. Runners must reach the crossing within the organizer's border window.
Race-day weather
Late October near San Diego and Tijuana is usually mild, but exposed sun, coastal wind, and a warmer finish can all matter. The late climb adds heat stress before the downhill final miles.
