About the Marine Corps Historic Half
Organized by the Marine Corps Marathon Organization since 2008, the Historic Half brings several thousand runners to Fredericksburg for a spring race through downtown and historic neighborhoods. Marine support and military ceremony give it a clear family resemblance to MCM, but the course has its own sting on Hospital Hill.
Course
The 13.1-mile route starts and finishes near Central Park, runs through downtown Fredericksburg, and saves its signature test for Hospital Hill. Runners must maintain 17:30 per mile, and the late climb makes patient pacing more important than the early miles suggest.

Mid-May in Fredericksburg can start mild and humid, with temperatures rising quickly after the early start. Cloud cover helps, while sun and humidity make Hospital Hill feel sharper late in the race.
