About the Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon
This June race is one of several independently named marathons that use Washington's popular tunnel corridor. It should be treated separately from Tunnel Vision, Tunnel Light, Cascade Express and Super Hyak.
Course
Runners pass through the long Snoqualmie Tunnel before following a gradual downhill rail-trail toward North Bend. The forgiving grade can produce fast times, but the dark tunnel and prolonged descent require preparation.
Race-day weather
Early June in the Cascades may begin cool and damp near the pass before warming at lower elevation. A headlamp and light layer help inside the tunnel, while exposed later miles can feel much warmer.
