Course
The route covers 26.4 miles on dirt roads and singletrack east of Leadville, topping out at Mosquito Pass at 13,185 feet. The course is out-and-back, exposed, and hard to pace because altitude matters as much as grade.
Race-day weather
Late June in Leadville can bring strong sun, cold air, wind, rain, or snow on the high sections. Runners should plan for fast-changing mountain weather and slower effort at altitude.
About the Leadville Trail Marathon
Leadville Trail Marathon is the marathon-distance race in the Leadville Race Series. It is built for trail runners who want altitude, climbing, and mining-district terrain instead of a road PR course.
