Steamboat Marathon descends from Hahn's Peak through Elk River ranchland, mixing mountain scenery, open roads, rollers, altitude, and a downtown finish.
Quick facts

- Elk River ranchland fills the point-to-point route.
- Rolling hills interrupt the net descent.
- Strict five-and-a-half-hour limit.
About the Steamboat Marathon
Steamboat's long-running destination race keeps a small-town feel while drawing runners to northern Colorado. The full field is capped below the half marathon.
Course
The point-to-point course starts at Hahn's Peak Village and follows Routt County Road 129 to downtown Steamboat Springs. Net descent is interrupted by persistent rollers.
Race-day weather
June mornings begin cold at altitude and may warm quickly in the valley. Sun, wind, rain, and thin air all influence the exposed ranch-road course.

Is Steamboat Marathon a Boston qualifier?
Yes. Steamboat Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier. Meeting the standard lets you apply but does not guarantee entry, and net-downhill courses can receive a time adjustment under current B.A.A. rules.
