About the Langdale Marathon
This is a classic hard road marathon rather than a trail race. Lakeland Roads now organizes the full from Great Langdale, with a separately entered half covering one lap of the same landscape.
Course
Two 21.1 km road laps turn Lake District gradients into the defining feature. Repeating the hills gives runners advance knowledge on lap two, but it also makes conservative first-lap effort essential.
Race-day weather
October in Great Langdale can be cold, wet and windy, though calm autumn sun is possible. Rain on exposed valley roads and rapid changes near the fells can make conditions feel harsher.
