About the Lake Country Half Marathon
This started as the run leg of a Wisconsin triathlon weekend and outlived the swim, so the half is now the headline event alongside an 8 mile run and ruck. It has run every late summer since 2022 with fields around 130 to 175 finishers, and it remains the only race that circles Lac La Belle.
Course
From the Village Green the route heads north along the isthmus between Fowler Lake and Lac La Belle, traces the shoreline through the Village of Lac La Belle, swings out onto countryside roads, then returns down the western edge to finish at City Beach. Surfaces mix pavement and trail, and the closing stretch is flat and fast.
Race-day weather
Late August in southeast Wisconsin can be warm and humid at an 8 a.m. start. Lake breeze helps on the shoreline sections, but the inland country roads in the middle miles are the most exposed part of the day.
