About the JELL-O Half Marathon
The theme here goes further than a shirt design. Willow Running stages the race in the village that gave JELL-O its name, entry money goes to the JELL-O Museum and Gallery and a local backpack program, and the finish happens at the JELL-O Barn with food and music. The half field stays around a hundred runners, so it feels like a village race rather than a production.
Course
Paved country roads through Genesee County farmland, with very little elevation change and long open sightlines. Traffic is light, spectators are scarce, and the field spreads out fast, so most runners end up working off one or two people for miles at a stretch. A 7K shares the morning and finishes at the same barn.
Race-day weather
Early October in western New York usually brings a cool start in the 40s or 50s and a real chance of wind moving across open farmland. Rain is common enough to plan for, and there is almost no shelter once the course leaves the barn.
