About the Ironclad Half Marathon
Ironclad Races, a Kinston nonprofit, donates all proceeds to local charities and has built this October race into a steady eastern North Carolina fixture over more than a decade. A few hundred runners take on the half, with a 5K alongside and a hometown brewery as longtime title sponsor.
Course
A flat, fast single loop that starts outside historic Grainger Stadium, moves through downtown Kinston and North Kinston, and passes the CSS Neuse II ironclad replica. The finish rounds home plate and ends on the first-base line inside the ballpark.
Race-day weather
Mid-October in eastern North Carolina usually starts in the 50s and finishes in the 60s or low 70s. Humidity has often faded by then, making it one of the region's friendlier racing windows.
