Course
The marathon starts and finishes at the Eisenhower Conference Center, uses a two-loop layout, and crosses the Mason-Dixon line into Maryland. Expect rolling to hilly country roads, a steadier rhythm than a tourist-heavy city course, and enough climbing to keep it honest.
Race-day weather
Late April in south-central Pennsylvania can offer near-perfect spring racing or a damp, gray morning with a headwind on open farm roads. Hills matter here, but wind and temperature swings can matter just as much.
About the Gettysburg North South Marathon
This race is shaped as much by what it no longer does as by what it does now. Since it can no longer run through Gettysburg National Military Park, the marathon has become a rural back-road event with a history-town base rather than a battlefield tour.
