About the Finger Lakes Half Marathon

Willow Running stages this one on the Catharine Valley Trail, a converted rail line heading south out of Montour Falls. The weekend stacks a Friday night 5K against a Saturday slate of 18 mile, half marathon, 10K, and 5K starts, and entry money goes back into the trail.

Course

The Catharine Valley Trail carries the entire race, climbing at a barely noticeable grade on the way out and giving it back on the return. The rail trail is wide and well maintained, so pacing stays even and navigation is simple.

Race-day weather

Late September in the Finger Lakes brings cool mornings and valley fog that burns off slowly. An 8am start usually keeps the race in comfortable air before the afternoon warms.
