About the Fair on the Square Half Marathon
The race exists to open Danville's Fair on the Square fall festival, so the finish drops runners straight into vendors, live music, and food on the Hendricks County courthouse square. It has run every September since 2023 and settled into a field between roughly 110 and 200 half marathon finishers.
Course
Start and finish sit outside the Hendricks County Government Center on the square, and the route heads into the open country around Danville before returning downtown. It is one of the more rural half marathon courses in the Indianapolis metro, with water every 2 miles and portable restrooms at odd miles.
Race-day weather
Mid September in central Indiana can swing from cool and comfortable to warm and humid. An 8 a.m. start means later miles are often the warmest, and the country road sections have limited shade.
