Dutchess County Classic Half Marathon

The Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club has built the Dutchess County Classic into a long-running regional target race. The half gets its own Sunday start with cash awards at the front and a 15-minute-per-mile requirement that keeps the event focused on runners rather than walkers.

The half starts and finishes at Dutchess Community College, enters the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, and crosses the Walkway Over the Hudson on an out-and-back. The certified route is flat and largely separated from traffic, which rewards even effort. Parking congestion can be the hardest logistical part, so arriving early matters.

September mornings in the Hudson Valley can begin cool with fog or humidity near the river, then warm quickly after sunrise. The exposed bridge crossing can add wind even when the rail trail feels calm, so effort may change more than the flat profile suggests.
