About the Harcourts Cooper & Co Devonport Half Marathon
Devonport opens the Auckland Half Marathon Series with a compact tour of the historic suburb across the harbour from central Auckland. Its repeated laps make the beaches and harbour viewpoints part of a more demanding effort than a flat waterfront time trial.
Course
The 21.1km route uses two laps through Narrow Neck, Cheltenham and North Head, with mostly closed roads plus pavement and grass sections. King Edward Parade, the Navy Museum and Devonport Wharf provide changing harbour views before the finish at Devonport Domain.
Race-day weather
Early spring can bring mild air, showers and exposed harbour wind. Dress for changing conditions and let the coastal gusts influence effort rather than forcing a constant pace.
