Quick facts
- A single coastal lap through Omaha and Point Wells.
- Hard-packed beach sand and short grass sections break up paved running.
- A flat profile with exposed stretches on the beach and causeway.
Course
Roads, footpaths and concrete trails make up much of the route, with hard-packed sand along Omaha Beach and short grass sections beside the harbour at Point Wells. The causeway connects the two communities on a predominantly flat single lap.
Race-day weather
Late spring can feel warm once the sun is up, while rain remains possible. The beach and causeway offer little shelter from wind, so adjust effort to the conditions and take hydration seriously.
About the Omaha Half Marathon
Beach running is part of the race itself at Omaha. This Auckland Half Marathon Series event draws runners to the peninsula and nearby Point Wells for a coastal half that pairs a gentle profile with unusually varied footing.
