About the Coast Guard Marathon
The military connection here changes the day from the start. Civilian and Coast Guard runners share a race built around Elizabeth City and Base Elizabeth City, and the event has quickly leaned into a fast-course identity instead of trying to be a giant festival.
Course
The route stays flat and runnable, moving through downtown, the waterfront, the Coast Guard base, and even the air station runway. That mix of small-town streets and normally restricted ground gives the course more personality than a typical flat qualifier.
Race-day weather
Eastern North Carolina in April can start mild and finish warm, with humidity already creeping in if the sun is out. It is a better pacing day than a summer coastal race, but you still want to respect heat if the morning turns bright.
