About the Barkley Fall Classic 50K
This event gives runners a sanctioned taste of the terrain and problem-solving associated with the Barkley name. The 50K label understates a long mountain day in Frozen Head State Park.
Course
The course uses steep trails and rugged backcountry inside Frozen Head State Park. Elevation, footing and route demands make elapsed time far less comparable to a typical runnable 50K.
Race-day weather
September in eastern Tennessee can be hot and humid, though mountain rain and cooler ridge conditions are possible. Wet ground would amplify the course's steep footing.
