About the Autumn & Ales Half Marathon
Southern Maine's early-September race calendar is crowded, and this one has grown by staying small and staying local. Course
The route heads out along the Scarborough Marsh, which keeps the profile close to flat and the sightlines wide open. A 5K and 10K share the same path, so the opening miles carry more traffic before the half marathon field thins out. Start and finish are both at the American Legion on Manson Libby Road.
Race-day weather
Mid-September on the southern Maine coast is close to ideal half marathon weather. Mornings usually start in the 50s with ocean air moving across the marsh. Sun exposure on the open marsh sections is the thing to plan for once the temperature starts climbing.
