About the Aurora Marathon
This small expedition-style event is built around winter in northern Norway, combining the full marathon with lodging and Arctic activities such as dogsledding, snowshoeing and aurora excursions.
Course
The course is ten 4.22 km loops around Gargia Lodge on snow-covered trails with icy sections in polar darkness. Subzero exposure makes equipment choice and conservative pacing central to the experience.
Race-day weather
Conditions can be severely cold and can change without warning. Event terms warn that temperatures may fall below -40 C with still lower wind chills, creating genuine frostbite and hypothermia risks.
