About the Another Dam 50k
The Ohio River Road Runners Club stages this volunteer-run 50k in Englewood MetroPark north of Dayton, and it fills a useful niche as an approachable summer ultra. The loop format, frequent aid, and club pricing draw a mix of first-time ultrarunners and racers chasing a fast 50k time. A 25k runs the same course alongside it.
Course
The 50k covers four laps of a 7.77-mile loop that mixes trail, grass, and pavement, with about 470 feet of climb per lap. The route passes the Englewood dam and three small waterfalls, and the repeating laps make pacing, drop bags, and aid stops easy to plan.
Race-day weather
Mid-August in southwest Ohio is usually warm and humid, with mornings in the 60s climbing toward the upper 80s. An early start option helps, but the final laps often run hot, so fluids and salt matter more than the modest climbing.
