The Arizona stop in the Wicked Fast series joins its San Diego, Montana, and Poconos races, all small downhill events aimed at goal-time runners. The Tucson race adds a late-winter desert option to the series, with a small field and a course chosen for speed rather than spectacle.
Course
The current route starts in Oro Valley, spends the first five miles on North Oracle Road, then runs the rest of the distance on the Chuck Huckleberry Loop, a paved shared-use path with no car traffic or street crossings. The net drop is around 800 feet, gradual enough to feel flat while still helping pace.
Race-day weather
Late February mornings in the Tucson area often start near 40F and warm quickly once the sun is up. Dry desert air keeps humidity low, so sun exposure on the open path matters more than heat at the start.
