About the Wicked Fast Marathon Montana
The Montana edition of the Wicked Fast series applies the same formula as its San Diego and Poconos siblings: a small downhill point-to-point aimed at runners chasing Boston times. The base is Paradise Valley south of Livingston, about 30 minutes from Bozeman and 40 from Yellowstone's north entrance.
Course
The route drops about 1,200 feet net from Mill Creek Road to a finish at Pine Creek Fishing Access on the Yellowstone River, with roughly 90 percent of the miles on pavement. The grade helps, but sustained descending still asks for downhill-specific training and controlled early pacing.
Race-day weather
Mid-August mornings in Paradise Valley often start in the 40s, then warm quickly under strong high-elevation sun. Wind through the valley can matter more than heat in the early hours, and the dry air rewards steady fluid intake.
