Weston Run for Tomorrow Half Marathon

The Rotary Club of Weston has run this charity morning for close to three decades, and the half marathon is the anchor rather than an add-on. It goes off first, well ahead of the 10K, 5K, and family walk, and draws a few hundred entrants out of a race-morning crowd in the low four figures. Entry money goes to a children's hospital, and the finish area doubles as a community health and fitness festival, so the field skews local and social rather than time-chasing.

A USATF certified route on the wide suburban boulevards of Weston, mostly Royal Palm Boulevard and Bonaventure Boulevard, with lanes closed to traffic. The start sits at Bonaventure and Vista Park next to Cypress Bay High School and the finish is in front of the school. There is effectively no elevation, the turns are few, and the road is broad enough that the field never bunches. The out and back layout gives you a clean turnaround split to check your pacing against.

Early December in Broward County is the good half of the South Florida year, but it is still South Florida. Expect a start in the 60s Fahrenheit with dew points high enough to feel sticky, and expect the sun to be up and working by the second half. The pre-sunrise start is the reason the race is runnable; anyone going out on goal pace in the dark should plan for the last few miles to cost more.
