About the Wabash Run The River Half Marathon
Wabash County built a trail along the river and then built a race on it. The half starts and finishes at the Friendship Hill Inclusive Playground, heads out through downtown, and spends most of its distance beside the Wabash River. Cash prizes for the top man and woman are unusual for a race this size and pull in a few regional runners.
Course
A mix of flat street, rolling sections, and smooth paved trail, plus a crushed gravel stretch that only the half marathon reaches. Downtown Wabash comes early while the field is still bunched, then the route settles onto river trail where the surface changes do more to break rhythm than the terrain does.
Race-day weather
Early June in northern Indiana is usually humid at an 8:30 start, in the 60s and climbing through the race. Trail sections pick up some tree cover, but humidity rather than heat is what most runners feel late.
