About the Von Trapp Mountain Marathon
Formerly listed as the Trapp Lodge Mountain Marathon, this Ironwood Adventure Works event is based at the von Trapp family's resort. The marathon shares the mountain with a half marathon and relay.
Course
The route uses steep ski and mountain-bike trails around the resort. Sustained climbing, roots, rocks, and fast descents make trail skill and fueling more important than road-marathon splits.
Race-day weather
Mid-October can bring crisp sunshine, cold rain, mud, or an early wintry burst. Fallen leaves may conceal rocks and roots on technical sections.
