About the Transvulcania Ultramaratón
Transvulcania's flagship ultra is one of the Canary Islands' defining trail races. Its sea-to-summit profile, elite field and crowded finish in Los Llanos de Aridane give it major international stature.
Course
The route leaves Faro de Fuencaliente at sea level, follows the GR 131 to 2,421-metre Roque de los Muchachos, descends to Tazacorte and joins the GR 130 for the finish in Los Llanos de Aridane.
Race-day weather
The pre-dawn coast can feel mild before runners meet wind and cold near the island's high point. Strong sun, volcanic exposure and a long descent later favor adaptable layers and careful hydration.
