About the Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon
The Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon is not a shortened trip over the ultra's Chapman’s Peak route. It has its own identity as South Africa's largest half marathon, with a ballot-led entry process, strong club participation, and a difficult southern-suburbs course that finishes at the University of Cape Town.
Course
The half starts on Main Road in Newlands, runs through Claremont, Wynberg, Constantia, and Southern Cross Drive, then returns toward the UCT rugby fields. The late climbing is the defining feature. Runners who spend too much energy on the early roads can lose substantial time approaching the finish.
Race-day weather
Cape Town's autumn conditions can be mild and excellent, but rain, sun, and wind are all realistic. The climbing finish raises heat production even on a cool day. Runners should avoid overdressing and keep taking fluids before the course turns upward.
