Santa Hustle Glendale Half Marathon

Phoenix-area racing peaks in December, and this is the holiday-themed option on the west side. The start sits inside the Westgate Entertainment District next to the stadium and arena, which makes parking, bag drop, and post-race food easier than at most half marathons.

The opening stretch works through Westgate parking areas before the course settles into a flat out-and-back along the canal. Surface and grade are both easy, so a hard effort here is mostly a matter of pacing, though the first half mile is not much to look at.

December in the West Valley is close to ideal for a hard half. Starts are often in the 40s with very low humidity, and full sun arrives later, so the real risk is going out too fast while it still feels cold.
