About the Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Half Marathon
Rock 'n' Roll Arizona gives January half-marathon runners a large desert-city race with a tri-city identity. The race is a useful early-season target for runners who want mild winter weather and a big-event production.
Course
The half marathon tours Tempe, Scottsdale, and Phoenix before finishing at Tempe Beach Park. The course mixes city streets, desert views near Papago Park, and enough turns that runners should avoid treating it as a straight-line time trial.
Race-day weather
January in the Phoenix area is usually cool to mild compared with much of the U.S. Sun exposure and dry air can still build late in the race, especially for runners traveling from colder climates.
