The 104 mile flagship headlines a menu that also includes 100K, 50 mile, 50K, 27K, and 8 mile starts, all built around the Rainbow Trail beneath the Sangre de Cristo peaks.
Course
Racing follows the rolling Rainbow Trail along the eastern base of the Sangre de Cristo range, tracking the wilderness boundary through remote high country. The character is steady rollers on singletrack rather than sharp alpine climbs, and the longest races start at 4 a.m. in the dark.
Race-day weather
Late September at this elevation swings hard. Pre dawn starts can sit near freezing, midday sun is strong in the dry air, and early season snow is possible along the range. Layers and a real night kit matter in the longer races.
