About the San Diego Beach & Bay Half Marathon
This is a personal best course before it is anything else. The loop stays on flat waterfront pavement around Mission Bay and the beach neighborhoods, and the size of the field means real pace groups and a race atmosphere rather than a small local start.
Course
The loop begins near East Mission Bay Drive and runs past SeaWorld, Belmont Park, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, and Sail Bay before closing back on the water. Total elevation gain sits around 165 feet, so wind off the bay and an honest opening few miles are the only real variables.
Race-day weather
April mornings on Mission Bay are cool and often gray, and that marine layer suits fast running. The early start usually keeps the field well ahead of any midday warmup.
