Ruidoso Runfest now bases its marathon operations at Fort Stanton while retaining the familiar race name. The full starts Saturday morning, separate from Friday's packet pickup and 5K.

The road marathon unfolds in high-country terrain around Fort Stanton rather than the old Ruidoso venue. Elevation and rolling grades make an altitude-adjusted effort plan more useful than sea-level pace targets.
