About the Ruidoso Marathon
Ruidoso Runfest now bases its marathon operations at Fort Stanton while retaining the familiar race name. The full starts Saturday morning, separate from Friday's packet pickup and 5K.
Course
The road marathon unfolds in high-country terrain around Fort Stanton rather than the old Ruidoso venue. Elevation and rolling grades make an altitude-adjusted effort plan more useful than sea-level pace targets.
Race-day weather
September mornings in the Sacramento Mountains can be cool and dry before strong sun raises temperatures. Wind or afternoon storms remain possible in the exposed high-country setting.
