Known as Running the Gap, Pocatello's marathon leads a multi-distance race day in southeast Idaho. Organizer buses are required for the elevated start.

The certified route begins near Buckskin Saddle and trends downhill toward Pocatello. The 2026 start moved slightly to satisfy current Boston elevation limits.

This is a beautiful, peaceful, road course and a well organized event. The weather was perfect and there is lots to do in Pocatello to make it a weekend. And the race swag was amazing - very nice commemorative backpack. Even the finish line venue is lovely - at a grassy park with large trees and lots of post-race food & snacks.
