About the Peace Officer Memorial Run Half Marathon

Run by the Peace Officer Memorial Group of Stanislaus County, this Central Valley half has held the first Sunday in October slot for more than a decade. The memorial framing is not decorative: the start, the finish, and each mile marker carry the name of a fallen local officer, and much of the field has a connection to the agencies involved.

Course

The half starts downtown on I Street and covers flat Central Valley ground, which makes it a reasonable target for an even-effort race. A half marathon relay and a Full Gear Challenge division run the same route, so the field spreads widely by the second half.

Race-day weather

The first Sunday in October in Modesto usually starts cool and dry, then climbs quickly once the valley sun is up. Later finishers can be running in noticeably warmer air than the leaders.
