About the Monterey Bay Half Marathon

Organized by the Big Sur Marathon Foundation, Monterey Bay combines serious road-race production with one of California’s most scenic half-marathon settings. The limited field also gives the weekend a more manageable scale than a major-city race.

Monterey Bay Half Marathon course description

The route starts near Del Monte Avenue, passes Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, then follows the coast through Pacific Grove toward Point Pinos and Asilomar before finishing at Custom House Plaza. It is relatively flat, with the clearest climb near mile four.

Weather for the Monterey Bay Half Marathon

November on Monterey Bay is often cool, foggy, and ideal for distance running, but ocean wind, mist, and rain are possible on exposed sections.
