About the Old Forge Marathon

Old Forge turns one Adirondack weekend into a broad endurance festival spanning running, paddling and cycling. The marathon remains a separately entered Saturday race with its own certified distance.

Course

The full uses a certified route based in Old Forge. Because the weekend contains many events, marathoners should follow the full-specific start time, map and cutoff rather than relying on the umbrella schedule.

Race-day weather

September in the Adirondacks can begin chilly and damp, then warm under clear sun. Forested surroundings, rain and quick temperature swings make removable layers a sensible choice.
