About the Moorehead Park Trail Mazathon
The distinctive Mazathon spelling is part of this small Iowa event's identity. Marathoners complete their own 26.2-mile trail product rather than being folded into a generic timed race.
Course
Three loops of about 8.8 miles build the full distance through Moorehead Park. Approximately 3,000 feet of climbing, repeated turns and natural footing create a steady trail challenge.
Race-day weather
Early August in western Iowa can be hot, humid and stormy. Tree cover may soften the sun, but heat accumulates over repeated loops and rain can quickly alter trail traction.
