About the Moonlight on the Falls Marathon
The 10 p.m. marathon is the fixed-distance centerpiece of an overnight trail-and-road event at Blackwater Falls. Separate half, quarter and timed challenges broaden the weekend without changing the full's identity.
Course
Four certified 6.55-mile loops make up the marathon at Blackwater Falls State Park. Repeated access to support helps, while darkness and cumulative climbing demand steady focus through the night.
Race-day weather
Late-August nights at this elevated West Virginia park are often cooler than surrounding valleys, but humidity, fog or rain are possible. A reliable light and layers matter after midnight.
