Created to support Millinocket's local economy, this no-entry-fee marathon has become a cult New England event. Runners are encouraged to spend locally and donate to community causes.
Course
Marathoners complete two road loops around Millinocket and nearby forest, with rolling grades and views toward Katahdin when skies are clear. Winter footing can add to the challenge.
Race-day weather
December in interior Maine is cold and unpredictable, with snow, ice, wind, and subfreezing temperatures all realistic. Winter traction and layered clothing may be necessary.
