Course
Every pen leaves together from 215 Boulevard de la Liberté, and the finish is on the Esplanade du Champ de Mars beside a finish village with covered recovery and food areas. Organizers describe the route as very flat, with music and entertainment along the way. Aid stations come every 5 km from the 5 km mark, with extra drinks at 27.5, 32.5 and 37.5 km. Runners must pass 10 km within 1:25, halfway within 3:00 and 30 km within 4:16, and the overall limit is six hours. The course is closed to wheelchairs and joëlette chairs.
Race-day weather
Late October in Lille is usually cool and often damp, and the 11:15 start puts most runners on the road through the middle of the day. Wind and rain on wet streets are more likely concerns than heat, so bring a layer for the wait in your pen.
About the Trek Marathon de Lille
The Ligue Hauts-de-France d'Athlétisme organizes the race, and organizers count it among France's largest marathons by entries. It shares the day with a half marathon that goes off earlier in the morning. The course holds the French federation's Gold Label and qualifies runners for the national marathon championships. Elite, sub-elite and preferred start pens are open by application with a recent official marathon or half marathon time.
