- Pacers run from 3:00 to 4:30 in 15-minute steps.

Course
From the seafront promenade at La Baule, facing the bay, the route takes in Le Pouliguen, Guérande, Le Croisic and Batz-sur-Mer, mixing wild coast and salt marshes before returning to finish in La Baule. Total climbing is just 97 m, and French federation officials measure the distance, so ignore what your watch says at the line.
Race-day weather
Early November on the Atlantic is usually cool, which suits fast running. Wind is the real variable on this coastal route, and a stiff breeze or passing rain can undo an even-split plan. Bring a throwaway layer for the wait on the promenade.
About the Marathon Côte d'Amour Amarris
New as it is, the Côte d'Amour race has reached capacity and has real pace at the front, where the men's race has gone under 2:10. The organizers bill it as the fastest course in France. A weekend of shorter races in Guérande and La Baule fills out the program, and pacers cover goals from 3:00 to 4:30.
