About the Kathmandu Marathon
Kathmandu Marathon is an established capital-city race organized by the NRS Sports Foundation. The marathon starts before sunrise and includes open and masters categories, while shorter races join the same event program later in the morning.
Course
The 42.195 km road race starts outside Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor. Kathmandu's elevation adds a steady aerobic cost even when the streets look runnable, and the early start is designed to get much of the race completed before traffic and daytime warmth build.
Race-day weather
October mornings in Kathmandu are often cool and relatively dry after the monsoon. Sun strengthens quickly at the valley's elevation, so the temperature change from the predawn assembly to the later miles matters for pacing and hydration.
