About the Inca Marathon Peru

This multi-day Wildmarathon program blends acclimatization, trekking and a mountain race near Machu Picchu. The marathon is the longest of three distances and forms part of a supported travel itinerary.

Course

The 42 km route climbs through the Salkantay valleys to the Llactapata ruins before descending to Aguas Calientes. It mixes about 80% dirt road with 20% singletrack and reaches roughly 3,150 meters.

Race-day weather

Conditions can vary from about 5 C at the start and 2 C near the high pass to roughly 25 C at the finish. Altitude, rainforest humidity and rapid mountain changes reward adaptable layers.
