About the Icefjord Midnight Marathon

This late-evening Greenland race puts Ilulissat's icefjord at the center of the experience. International runners enter through a multi-day package, while local runners have a separate race-only option.

Course

Marathoners complete the mixed-surface half-marathon route twice. Pavement and gravel in town give way to wooden paths and hilly, rocky trails near the icefjord, with almost no sustained flat running. Water stations sit roughly every 4 kilometers, and the marathon cutoff is seven hours.

Race-day weather

Early June in Ilulissat can feel cold and windy even with the midnight sun overhead. Temperatures may drop through the late-evening start, and wet rock or wooden paths can make footing more technical.
