About the Huntsville Half Marathon
The Huntsville Track Club has run this since the late 1970s, and the field has grown sharply, passing 460 finishers. Many entrants use it as the last hard effort before the Rocket City Marathon four weeks later, which gives the front of the race a serious edge for a club event.
Course
A flat road loop through South Huntsville starting at Hillwood Baptist Church, with aid every two miles. The lack of climbing and the simple layout make it a genuine PR course. A three and a half hour cutoff applies because of city permits, so walkers should check their pace first.
Race-day weather
Early November in north Alabama is unpredictable. Mornings can be sunny and mild, chilly and windy, or wet, and the 8 a.m. start means the back half is usually warmer than the first.
